About Us
Joint Efforts to Save the Environment (JESE), is a national Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1993 with a desire to increase household food security, through sustainable agricultural production and livelihood improvement, Natural Resources Management, Governance and Energy, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) and Youth Skills Development.
In partnership with Care International in Uganda, and funding from Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Joint Effort to Save the Environment (JESE) is implementing carbon and restoration project called RESTORE AFRICA. The project aims at enhancing environmental conservation through planting of ecologically friendly trees in degraded landscape in 6 districts mentioned above.
Specific Responsibilities;
- Organize and conduct community awareness meetings about the project objectives, activities and outcomes.
- Support project officer in training project participants (small holder farmers and pastoralists) on context-specific climate smart agricultural practices and technologies.
- Train farmers on tree establishment and EverGreening practices.
- Support farmer to farmer extension for landscape restoration
- Conduct community mobilization for Participatory Resource Mapping, Analysis, Visioning.
- Establish or support household or community-based best-practice demonstration sites for contextually appropriate Evergreening practices
- Work with existing land management committee’s/peace councils’ / community development councils to support conflict resolution
- Identify existing farmer groups and VSLA/SILC groups to participate in evergreening activities
- Support project officer during training of identified farmer groups in marketing skills for NRBEs
- Conduct carbon conversation meetings with communities/groups
- Support project participants to sign consent forms, CDA
- Participate in GIS data collection on trees and Annual Monitoring of Tree growth
- Attend project trainings organized by JESE/CARE/PMU
- Produce and submit monthly workplans and reports
Qualification and Education Requirement
Candidates who fit the following criteria are strongly encouraged to apply:
- A Candidates should be with at least s.4 certificate of equivalent.
- Previous experience in supporting similar interventions (community mobilization, and trainings/extension services and data collection) is critical.
- Ability to work under minimum supervision to deliver results in the stipulated time.
- Good knowledge of computer use and digital data collection tools.
- Ability to work in a team (good team player) and independently.
- Good communication and reporting skills
- Able to work and travel in remote and hard to reach areas for long hours
- Good understanding of English, Runyankole/Rukiga, Rutooro, Rukonzo languages is a MUST.
- Each Applicant MUST be a resident in one of the sub-county to work in as in the table summary below;
- Trainings in agroforestry, extension, green business and financial inclusions is an added advantage.

How to apply
Submit your hand written application with a cover letter and previous experience with at least Two (02) referees you have worked with/previously employed you.
Application should be submitted to sub county CDOs offices not later than 29th January 2024.
Interviews shall be conducted from 30st Jan to 4th Feb 2024 at respective sub county Hqs.
Successful applicants shall be required to report for a training on 6th of February 2024 without fail.
