Ms. joy she is a Resident of Kirindameni village Kyerenga parish Butunduzi Town Council, she is a member of Kyerenga Wetland Conservation Association

“We started income generating farming after the training by JESE Staff who told us these projects can generate money. At that time, we had income and food security challenges. So, we hoped to get  money and food for our family.”

Three years ago we used to hear people say, those with small land can gain from it. So, we accepted class to be trained by JESE.  It’s now two years, we no longer plant much of beans and maize as it used to be before. I’m doing my farming on 1acre of land. I also rent another acre where I plant cash crops to earn income such as maize and Irish potatoes which gives me around 1million per season

We ventured into  cocoa growing.  JESE gave us 250 vines and also trained us to   dig trenches which keeps water during dry season and to stop soil erosion. Today, there  is a change since we put in place trenches in our gardens.  Plants are no longer drying  up as it used be the case. We also do mulching in the garden, and this has regulated sunlight from scorching our crops.

We were also trained by Mr. Edward and Mr. Gabriel from JESE on how to pollinate Vanilla. Today, I can assist other farmers to pollinate their vanilla.
